Lovely Brits

I have a fetish for accents. Any kind really. If it's foreign, my knees turn to jelly. British and Australian really make me liquefy. I know this fact doesn't necessarily make me stand out in the American, female population, but I like what I like. And I like accents. Especially if they are spoken from a male mouth.
Oddly enough, there is a lovely Brit living on the 4th floor of my building. Interesting. For fear of exposing his identity, I shall call him Adam.
I first noticed this lovely male at church when he was asked to read a scripture aloud. When he started speaking, I desperately looked around, trying to find the owner of the accent and my soon to be husband.
It just so happens that one of my friends in my building knows this Adam. I asked him about Adam, and he said he would introduce me if my heart desired. Boy did my heart desire!!!
We were having this conversation in the lounge of my building. A fine place to have it. Didn't think anything of it. As we were speaking about this subject, what do you know, in walks Adam. He presses the button to the elevator and is forced to wait their for it's arrival.
About this time, one would think my David moment would be that Adam overhears Scott and mines conversation. Just wait for it.
Scott starts talking to my Adam. Before Scoot can turn the attention onto me I promptly...

throw myself behind the couch onto the floor.

Yes ladies and gents, I hid. What could cause me to do that? Sheer stupidity.

Oh, another lovely David moment.

Marketplace Sighting

We just ate at the marketplace and were discussing our awkward David Moment last night.
We mentioned that it would be funny if we saw him again. But realized we wouldn't recognize him if we did... it was dark, and he's so tall it was hard to see his face.
Suddenly Emily says "guys... thats david."
we looked out the window into the hall of the TSC and sure enough a tall gangly man walking with a slight limp was in line. we debated for a while of whether or not that was truly david.
it was.
it was also embarrassing.
i blushed.
awkward.

The Beginnings of David

As awkward Freshman, we are prone to extremely awkward situations.
such as david.

Last night as we walked Emily back to her dorm, we stopped and looked over the valley and had deep discussions of hormones, estrogen, and sensitive boys.
Suddenly Jenn had to pee. So, we ran upstairs to Emily's room where we used the lovely facilities that are in the LLC.
We decided we needed to breathe and went back outside. We sat outside the front door which turns out to be a somewhat awkward place to stand.
As we chatted an extremely tall gangly man walked out of the door with a box and a stack of papers.
at the sight of us, he dropped his papers because he was trying to get his cellular phone out of his pocket.
"dangit." he said softly as we all scrambled to help the poor guy out.
as we all picked up his papers we tried to make a casual conversation.
"Perfect timing! you've got all these girls to help you out!" jenn said teasingly.
"uhh yeah... Hey... I'm David..." he said in the most awkward manner imaginable.
"Uhh.... Hi David... I'm Haley... "
"Emily..."
"Uhh.. Jenny."
we all sat there in an awkward silence waiting for him to either speak, or leave. He did neither.
"Well.. don't let us keep you..." Emily said trying to ease the awkward tension after standing in an awkward silence for what seemed like forever. (probably really about 20 seconds...)
He walked away extremely slowly with a slight limp as we tried our hardest to return to our conversation rather than laugh our guts out.
we were somewhat unsuccessful.

and so begins the journey of Hey... I'm David. We decided we should document all these awkward moments in our time at usu. whether with all three of us, or just individually.
So enjoy laughing at our awkward attempts to be social and kind. we find them funny.
